  • State and city of residence — to surface region-relevant State PCS information.
  • Optional subject preference — to deliver matching syllabus and faculty content.
  • Profile photo (optional) — uploaded by you to your in-app profile.
  • Handwritten answer images — when you use the in-app AI Paper Checker, you photograph your written Mains answer. See Section 4 for the exact data flow.
  • Test attempts, MCQ scores, Diagnostic results, AI evaluation results — generated as you use the app’s tests and evaluations.

  • Payment-related details for course enrolment — handled by our payment gateway partners. We receive only confirmation of payment status, not your full card or banking details.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Website: IP address, browser type, ISP, time of visit, referring/exit page, and approximate click counts via standard server log files. Cookies and similar technologies for site preferences and analytics.
  • Android app: Firebase Installation ID, device model, OS version, language setting, crash and performance logs via Firebase Crashlytics, in-app activity events (screens visited, features used, Sankalp Points earned, planner regenerations), and approximate location derived from IP address only.

2.3 What we do NOT collect

  • The app does not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, calendar, microphone, or precise GPS location.
  • We do not scan files outside the app’s own storage.
  • We do not access your other accounts (Gmail, Drive, etc.) unless you sign in with Google Auth, and even then only your email and name.

3. How we use your information

  • To authenticate you and keep your progress synced across devices.
  • To generate your personalized study planner based on target exam, journey stage, and diagnostic results.
  • To run the AI Paper Checker evaluation when you submit a handwritten Mains answer.
  • To show eligibility chips on exam tiles based on your date of birth and category.
  • To route your “Show Interest” and “Talk to Mentor” requests to a Plutus IAS counsellor.

  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our terms.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or third parties. The PlutusIAS Aspirant Android app does not display advertisements and does not contain any third-party advertising SDKs.

4. AI Paper Checker — special disclosure

Because this feature uploads a photo of your handwritten answer to a third-party AI service, we disclose the exact data flow:

  1. The in-app camera captures a photo of your handwritten answer page. The image is downscaled on your phone to a maximum of 1024 pixels on the longest side, and JPEG-compressed at quality 85.
  2. The image, the question text you provided, the target exam, and a structured evaluation prompt are sent over HTTPS to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com) for evaluation.
  3. Google returns a JSON evaluation. Under Google’s paid Gemini API terms applicable to us, your image and text are not used to train Google’s models.
  4. The evaluation result and a reference to the image are stored in your private Firestore subcollection aspirants/{your-uid}/paperEvaluations/, visible only to you and to Argasia engineers conducting safety review of grading quality.
  5. The original image bytes remain on your phone unless you opt into cloud sync (not enabled by default).

You can delete any individual evaluation from your “My Mains Answers” history. Deleting your account erases all evaluations.

5. Third-party services we use

The following processors receive part of your data so we can provide the service:

  • Firebase (Google LLC) — Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Crashlytics, Analytics, App Distribution. Receives account, profile, and usage data.
  • Gemini API (Google LLC) — AI Paper Checker evaluation. Receives the answer image, question text, target exam, and prompt.
  • Bunny.net CDN — Video streaming for faculty lectures. Receives anonymous viewer logs (IP address, video ID, view duration).
  • Plutus IAS CRM (Argasia internal system) — Counsellor follow-up workflow. Receives your phone, name, target exam, and interest signal when you tap “Show Interest” or “Talk to Mentor”.
  • Payment gateway partners — For course enrolment payments. Receives details necessary to process the transaction. We do not store full card or bank-account details.
  • Web analytics (website only, e.g. Google Analytics) — Standard pseudonymized site usage metrics.

You can disable cookies via your browser settings; some features (such as the e-learning portal) may not work correctly without them. The Android app does not use browser cookies but does use Firebase Installation IDs for analytics.

8. Where your data is stored and how long we keep it

Data is stored on Google Cloud servers within India (asia-south1 region) wherever Firebase region selection permits. Gemini API processing may occur in any Google region; under our paid API tier your data is not used for training. Website hosting is on servers operated by our hosting partner.

We retain account data for as long as your account is active, plus 30 days after account deletion for backup rotation, after which it is permanently erased. Anonymized analytics data may be retained longer for trend analysis.

  • Correct — edit any profile field directly in the app, or write to us for website-side corrections.
  • Delete — request full account and data deletion via the in-app Profile → Settings → Delete Account option, or by emailing [email protected]. Deletion is irreversible and completes within 7 working days.
  • Object or restrict processing — withdraw consent for marketing notifications via in-app settings, or write to us to restrict other processing.
  • Portability — request your data in machine-readable JSON format.

10. Security
